Hi, Dr Miranda Sageman here at Bespoke Dental.
Last week one of my patients, Jennifer from O’malley, expressed how happy she was after we cemented her porcelain crown. She commented that she wished she had this done sooner because she loved the colour and felt that her cracked tooth was so much more secure and stronger. So I thought I’d share a quick video to let you know simply what a dental crown can do for your teeth.
A dental crown restores the function, aesthetics and form of the compromised tooth. Dental crowns can protect heavily filled teeth from fracturing. They can protect a cracked tooth from discomfort and further splitting. They can hide the discoloured enamel of a natural tooth. An analogy I like to use is a dental crown is like a complete beanie over your head. It overlays the vulnerable tooth structure.
Today with our superior bonding techniques, we can make the crowns smaller, so it looks more like a beret style. This means we can keep more of your own enamel yet protect the weakened sides of the tooth.
Crowns can be made from porcelain, gold or a combination of both. If you think you have back teeth that are more than 70% filled or have a tooth that has been root filled, a dental crown can protect these teeth from fracturing irreparably.
If you don’t like the colour of a front tooth, a crown may provide an aesthetic solution for this.
So if you have a tooth or a few teeth that need more protection,or a heavily discoloured tooth, a dental crown could be the right solution, and we would love to look after you. Simply call us on 02 6249 1391, complete the form on our website, or direct message us on social media, and our friendly team will be in touch to organise an appointment. We look forward to meeting you.
